Unspeakable Grief: for Queer, Trans, Nonbinary and Two-Spirit support workers

Tuesday April 15 2025, 7 – 8:30 pm
At Cross & Crows Books, 2836 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Facilitated by Matsui De Roo
Registration required: genderoo.janeapp.com

As healthcare, frontline, or other support workers, it’s not uncommon for us to experience the death of a client, colleague, or community member—but it can often feel like we have nowhere to turn. Our work environments aren’t typically built to support these types of losses. Client confidentiality carries beyond death, and workplace norms may make it hard to open up about our emotions. And we may be active in small communities, where our personal and professional lives overlap. But it’s important to allow ourselves space to grieve.

This free, in-person grief circle will be a facilitated space where you will be encouraged to acknowledge your feelings, and participate in a healing ritual together.

This group is being generously hosted by Cross and Crows books, a Vancouver based, queer-owned small business. Please consider arriving early or staying late to shop here. You can also shop online anytime at  www.crossandcrows.com.

Being Human In This Work: a support circle for trans, nonbinary and Two Spirit service providers

Thursday, April 29 2025
7 – 8 pm
Online via Zoom
Facilitated by Matsui De Roo
Registration required: genderoo.janeapp.com

This free online care circle is for trans, nonbinary, and Two-Spirit service providers who are supporting TNB2S+ individuals and communities.

With the rise of transphobia affecting public attitude and policy, it’s more important than ever to create space for self-care and community care.

In this circle, participants will have the opportunity to share their feelings, engage in some grounding exercises, and explore ideas for nurturing themselves and each other.

The circle will include somatic and visualization exercises, with an optional expressive arts component. All activities are voluntary—you are welcome to attend and witness if you prefer.

This workshop is made possible by the generous support of Trans Care BC.
